What is "website hosting"
Every website in the world "lives" on a computer that is usually connected to the internet 24 hours a day. It is possible to set yourself up so that you are directly connected to the internet, but it's a very technical process, so most people prefer to pay to have their website "hosted" at an Internet Service Provider or ISP. The better ISP's have spent thousands of dollars on good security hardware and software to guard against viruses and hackers damaging your website.
Every one of my current clients is able to use GoDaddy's least expensive hosting plan, which is less than $50 per year on an annual basis. If your site grows so large, or includes so many photos and graphics that it eventually exceeds the "Economy" hosting level, the next plan up is still less than $100 per year.
